What does it take to accurately model a CFD case? We would argue that it is thinking in terms of the principles of the field, in other words, thinking in first principles. Possessing the mentality/mindset that defines an engineer.
Solving industry or real-world problems that are definitely not in the textbook requires you to have originality of thought. For every step. From preparing the geometry, to meshing, to setting up the boundary conditions and eventually extracting data, there are some industry-standard practices. Some conventions that can make our lives easier, but are definitely out of our reach, especially as a student.
But those practices, the foundations, do not have to be out of reach anymore. Meet Mr. Rafnan Rezwan. If you are someone from the FSAE community, he likely needs no introduction. But for those who haven't crossed paths with him yet, Mr. Rezwan brings a wealth of high-performance engineering experience to the table. Currently working in the Defence Sales department at Toyota Bangladesh, his roots are deeply embedded in elite motorsport engineering. He served as an Aerodynamics Engineer for Oxford Brookes Racing, one of the most prominent teams in the IMechE Formula Student competition. Throughout his career, his work has centered on aerodynamic performance optimization, rigorous testing and validation workflows, and manufacturing. His understanding sits right at the sweet spot; we need to close the gap. Which is why we’ve invited him to lead our first workshop focusing on the fundamentals of CFD.
The workshop is going to cover what Computational means in Computational Fluid Dynamics, and teach you to flag, no pun intended, but when it is just Colorful Fluid Dynamics.
