The AUST Applied Simulation and Modelling Lab invites students to the Insight Manuscript Challenge, a short-form academic writing competition centered on recent advancements in simulation and computational research.
What is this all about?
The foundational skill for any researcher is the ability to read, synthesise, and communicate scientific developments clearly and accurately. This challenge is designed to cultivate that practice. Participants will produce a concise, original article no more than 150 words, summarising a recent advancement in one of the following fields:
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Molecular Dynamics (MD)
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Control Engineering
Articles must draw on recent academic literature (preferably within the last five years) and include properly formatted references in IEEE citation style.
Need a kickstart in all these? We have got you just covered. Please navigate to Appendix A and Appendix B of the rulebook to find the necessary guidelines compiled using the best practices just for you on how to read an academic manuscript and how to write an academic article.
Why Participate
AASML is actively expanding its research groups and planning new studies. High-performing participants will be considered for direct involvement in ongoing or upcoming projects at the lab.
Submission Window: 12 June 2026 – 27 June 2026
